To the Woman Who Stopped Me in the Hair Products Aisle Yesterday

To you: the wonderful stranger who, acknowledging that we didn’t know each other and would likely never again cross paths, asked my opinion on the box of hair color you were considering.

Please know that I gave the auburn color portrayed on the box thoughtful attention, along with your complexion and ponytailed brunette hair, before giving my resounding “Yes!”  Your bold spirit was bursting for a change, you were following your own guidance, and my opinion simply reflected You back to yourself.

It doesn’t matter that I was in that particular aisle because I was lost.  It doesn’t matter that I have zero experience with coloring hair.  It matters that two complete strangers shared a brief exchange in which our souls were communicating.

There’s something I wish I would have said.  I would have told you that you are radiant.  I would have remarked how your hair color–au naturale or designed– is simply adding to the unleashing of the astounding beauty you already are.  In that moment, in that aisle, your amazing spirit was clearly visible and talking to mine.

I know your hair turned out great, because you already are.  I hope you are so thrilled with the results that you can barely stay in your own skin!  And I hope your bold move brings you presence into your bold spirit.

  1. Thanks for sharing! Our interactions with one another really do make a difference. There have been times that an exchange in a store or at a drive through window have left me impacted greatly.

    1. You speak the truth! I’m consoled that even though I didn’t speak those words to her that I gained in hindsight, she still receives the energy and message. 🙂

  2. Aww, this is so lovely 🙂 Isn’t it interesting to think what effect that meeting could have going forward. Your encouragement to her to change her hair color could determine all sorts of things! And it’s very cool that you shared that little moment 🙂

By the way I love that you mentioned you were lost, that made me laugh hehe!

    Thanks for sharing 🙂

    Rohan.
