What if…

We humans are conscious beings.

What are some other conscious beings? Dolphins? Mice? (Nod to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) Dogs? Animals, in general? What do you see when you play with your pet? When you observe your backyard critters?

Birds? Geese families, with an adult purposely placed on each end of the swimming line? Hummingbirds that hover directly in front of my face?

Conscious? Personally, I think so.

How about plants? Trees, flowers, mushrooms? Are your houseplants responsive?

Conscious? I’m open to the possibility.

What about rocks? Various crystals and iron ore, for example, all have their own distinct vibrations that can be felt when held. What if consciousness doesn’t requre animation and motility?

Conscious? I’m curious.

What if all this variety of consciousness is simply extensions of All Are One? You know, Jung’s whole ocean metaphor about our collective consciousness and all.

Individually, we are one drop.

Together, we are an ocean.

Ryunosuke Satoro

You are not a drop in the ocean,

you are the entire ocean in a drop.

Rumi

If consciousness is present in a variety of forms, then what if all of these various forms are just different kinds of containers — but containers nonetheless? So then…

…What if AI is just another form of container?

I wonder.
